Granite quarry, Haivoron

Kirovograd Region is known not only for its beautiful scenery. It is also a major industrial region. And one of the biggest companies in the region are granite quarry in Gayvoron.

History career in Gayvoron

Since the mid 20`s to late 30`s of the 20th century in the Soviet Union frantic pace of industrialization policy was implemented.

In 1938, after conducting geological surveys near Haivoron are deposits of granite. In the same year begins mining stone open.

In the first year of opening the career employed 40 people, and with the only tools were picks, shovels, crowbars and hammers.

It took a long time and now the company has all the necessary modern equipment.

What is interesting here

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the opening of granite quarry, an important event. It was a monument to the first employee - butolomam.

Monument - is unworked stones bound together by valves. This stone resembles a man who holds the tools - Gemer. With such a non-trivial monument author wanted to show what were the conditions at the beginning and what a titanic work mined stone.

How to get there

The deposit is located in the southeast Haivoron, or rather the place where the river flows into the Tashlyk Southern Bug.

It is also worth visiting in the existing narrow gauge railway and granite block railroad.
