Trostianetsky Park

In Chernihiv region is a small village Trostianets. It is well known thanks to the largest in Europe Arboretum, which is spread over 204 acres of land.

Trostianetsky arboretum owes its appearance descendant Ukrainian Hetman kind Skoropadskys - Ivan Mikhailovich. In 1820 he inherited the village Trostianets, and he decided to create the most beautiful Ukrainian park. In 1836, began to plant trees, shrubs and other plants, which already grew an oak grove. Several centenarians mighty oaks survived until now, and you can see them, visiting Trostyantse. The construction Trostyanetsky arboretum park in the middle of the 19th century were attracted by the landscape designers Evstigneeva brothers. Head gardener Ivan Skoropadskyi appointed Karl Shlinglofa. In his landscape sketches were sprinkled manmade hills, this part of the park became known as the "Switzerland". There is a legend which says that the profile of the Swiss Alps was created by special order Skoropadskiy. In Trostyaneckaya arboretum is Big Pond, a width of one hundred meters, while its length is one and a half kilometers. You will see two ponds - Kutsihsky and Swan. Names received and clearings, which were planted birch, oak, fir, maple, linden and pine, as well as exotic plants. They were brought from the botanical gardens in Kiev, Karazinskogo acclimatization garden, Paris, St. Petersburg and Riga. Some varieties, which is induced in the first Trostyaneckaya arboretum. Basically, exotic shrubs and flowers planted between Privet Drive, Cedar, Walnut glades. Here you will see signs with names such as "fields of Taras Shevchenko", "Eight Brothers," "Three Sisters", "Sun" and many others. Just Trostyantse 623 species of trees and shrubs. About 40% of plantations constitute conifers that fill the entire park a pleasant aroma. Around the arboretum provided Trostyaneckaya ground paths that lead to interesting places.

Besides a variety of plants are found here, such inhabitants fauna as otter, muskrat, badger, deer, martens, and even foxes. In ponds inhabited by ducks and swans, and a dozen birds.

Preserved some architectural and sculptural creations, such as Old Manor, Verkhovino bridge Modrinovaya walkway with benches near the "Tree of Wishes", Scythian women and "Colon sadness."
