The Monument to Ivan Kotliarevsky
Monument to the famous Ukrainian writer Ivan Kotlyarevsky in Poltava was opened in 1903. It was 5 years spustya100 anniversary of the release of the poem "The Aeneid." In the creation of the monument was attended by famous cultural figures of the time - the sculptor L. Posen, architect A. Shirshov and others.
A bronze bust of nearly six-meter monument crowned with a laurel wreath, in the lower part up three high relief depicting characters from three legendary works of the author - "Aeneid", "Natalka Poltavka" and "Moskal Witch."
The monument is recognized as one of the major masterpieces of Ukrainian sculptural art. At the opening of the monument in 1903, was attended by many intellectuals of the time: Michael Kotsyubinsky, Lesya Ukrainka, Panas Mirny, Vasily Stefanik and others.
