Pokrovsky Church (Stara Pryluka)

Intercession Church is located in the center of the village not far from Old Priluk Palace Mehring . It was built over 100 years ago. Funds for the construction was collected by villagers and local entrepreneur - the owner of a brick factory - Sergei Mehring. This is evidenced by the inscription on a commemorative plate embedded in the stairs of the temple. Interestingly, the church is sometimes called the Transfiguration and ascribe more advanced age - according to some sources, it was built in 1819.
Half a century church doors were open to parishioners and services were held here. But in the 1960s, it was closed. And only after 30 years efforts of the local population, with the assistance of the authorities of the church work was resumed.
Unfortunately, we could not keep the murals in the interior of the Intercession Church. But the main feature - a twenty-meter high dome - still attracts tourists and makes the church recognizable among the number of such facilities in the area.
