Luigi and Mokrina Monument

Monument "Luigi and Mokrin" - one of the most moving monuments of Kiev. The monument is in Mariinsky Park near the Bridge of lovers and is dedicated to the real love story.

It all started back in 1943, when the Italian POW soldier Luigi Peduto and Ukrainian Mokrin Yurzuk first met in the Austrian POW camp. They have been together for two years. Then, they were separated by 60 years. Everyone at home had a family and children, but affection for each other is not quenched during this time. And now, in 2004, they met again in the famous TV broadcast. Finally they were able to re-embrace each other. It is these touching embrace forever imprinted sculptor. After this meeting, they will not leave. Soon Luigi Mokrin offered his hand and heart. Unfortunately, at this time in their plans interfered death. But, immortalized in bronze, they will be together forever, and would like this all my life.
