Mykola Kovalevsky - known Kiev official. At the beginning of the 20th century, he bought a plot of land in the heart of the owner of a sugar factory Brodsky for construction of the mansion. The project was led talented Kiev architect Pavel Aleshin. House stylized as a medieval castle. Architect managed to find an original solution: projecting semicircular structure with a dome, he hid sharp corners and combined the two front of the house. Water pipes were hidden in the walls of the house, the shadow of them are not broken facades. Construction was started in 1911 and lasted for 2 years. Architect used all the technological advances of the time - the house was carried out heating, and the floors were connected by an elevator.

On the first floor rooms, lounges, reception, library and billiards room. Second floor - a bedroom family Kovalevsky. The tower was located orchestra rehearsal room.

Also, the architect, at the request of the owner, settled down in the house of an unusual room styled as a train compartment. Mykola Kovalevsky met his wife on the train and equipped like a joke in the family room and the mansion.

Previously the house was located Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, now the building is subordinated to the Presidential Administration.
