Na Valakh Park

Park "on the shaft" is considered one of the most legendary and beautiful parks of the ancient Lviv . It is called the second oldest city squares. There are unique species of plants, beautiful alley with green shrubs and the main historical sites, the jewel of the park - Powder Tower .

Age Powder Tower dates back several hundred years, in the 18th century on the site of the present park were found the remains of a high defensive fortress. The construction of "On the shafts" allows to protect the entrances to the town and hunt down the enemy with high observation towers. The width of the walls of the fortress was about 6 meters at the base. In 1722, all traces of the fortress was dismantled as a building material, leaving only the central Powder Tower.

Since the beginning of the 1800s adviser Raytsengaym   major upsets park on high trees, where before there was a fortress. Square becomes a real work of landscape art. Dumped here rare species of trees, poplars, ornamental shrubs and exotic flowers.
