Memorial Museum of Peter Obalya

Landscape painter, graphic artist and portraitist, whose name was known in Europe, most of his life in a small quiet town in the Lviv region.

Peter Obal, whose paintings were successfully exhibited in Vienna, Berlin, Prague, Geneva and even in Chicago, underwent Stalinist repression. Prisoner camps Kazakhstan spent six years in exile. And after a period, he returned to Stry, where he lived for 30 years, working on new tracks.

The artist died on the 87th year of life. He created more than 700 paintings. Now they are exhibited in various museums. See the artist`s work can be in the Ternopil regional museum . Also, the picture is stored in the Lviv Museum of Ukrainian Art in the Art Museum in Ivano-Frankivsk . But much work remains to Striy and stored in a personal museum of the artist, opened in 2005. In addition to paintings, are stored here his personal belongings, archives, photographs, sent his daughter Petra Obalya.

The museum is open every day except Saturdays, from 9:00 to 17:00. You can find it in the central part of the city. Reach Stryja is easy - buses and trains make regular flights from Lviv.
