In Soviet times, the synagogue was closed, the building was given to the regional archive. The interior was rebuilt many times, so now it is difficult to say what it was originally. Only during the construction of Ukraine`s independence recognized architectural monument.

Sufficient funds to maintain its power is not isolated - the once grand building collapses in front of the citizens of Odessa. The Jewish community tried to return a former synagogue itself, but no decision on this issue has not been accepted.
