Brodsky Synagogue

Brodsky Synagogue is located in the historic heart of Kiev . Monumental structure built in 1898 at the expense of the well-known Jewish philanthropist Lazar Brodsky. Project architect was George Shleifer. Living in Kiev, most of his life, Brodsky has sponsored several important buildings in the city. It was such structures: Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Institute of Bacteriology,   Bessarabian market , Jewish Hospital.

The beautiful architecture of the synagogue was changed during the Soviet period, the main entrance were   to attach   Ceremonial   stage. Purpose of the building synagogue also changed. Since 1926, it was closed in 1950 opened a puppet theater, in 2000, the synagogue   opened   again.

Modern Jewish community cherishes all that was created by the talented ancestors Brodsky and Shleifer. The building is   restored   and preserve the unique interior. Inside is a central Torah ark with   gilded   scenery   and religious symbols.
