Besarabskyi Market

The sanitary conditions in the markets   Kiev in the late 19th century were not the best. To remedy the situation, appealed to the City Council experience   organization of trade in the cities of Western Europe. It was decided to build a covered market. Building project in the style of late modernity engaged architect Henry Guy. Construction work was carried out under the supervision of an engineer Michael Bobrusova and lasted 2 years. Engage in building facades instructed the disciples of the Kiev Art School Tatiana and Alexei Rudenko Teremtsovu led by Professor Balavensky. The facades are decorated with sculptures of the market: "A farmer with oxen", "thrush", fish and fishing nets, bulls` heads, flying geese on the wrought-iron gates.
