Monument to the postman Fedor Fekete

The only monument in Ukraine mailman installed in the Carpathian region in the center of Perechyn. The uniqueness of the monument to the postman that he installed a simple real person, not a hero or a collective artistic image. Postman Fedor Fekete worked at the post office in Perechin, all his life, he related to this work. He was born in 1789 in the village of Turyi Remety. Became a postman, when the village was founded foundry. Every day he overcame some 25 km to Uzhhorod back and deliver mail under any circumstances, regardless of the weather and time of year. For such a great job it was called "Ambassador".

Once Fedor was crossing the river away from the crossing on slippery rocks. He wanted to save time and as quickly as possible to deliver the mail, but slipped and fell into the icy water, caught pneumonia and died in 1839. Postman buried in the local cemetery, but the grave has not survived, as the expansion of the temple, it was under the church. In gratitude, the locals have decided to create a monument to him. Now come to him not only tourists, but also wedding couples to leave a letter with their wishes. People believe that they will be fulfilled.
