Trinity Cathedral, Berezhany
In the heart of the small western Ukrainian town Bershad, opposite the Town Hall in the Market Square, stands proudly Greek-Catholic Trinity Cathedral. It was built on the site of shopping malls in the 18th century, and is now an architectural reminder of national importance. Originally the cathedral was built in the tradition of Gothic and Renaissance, but for two centuries rebuilt.
Today, the church square, three-nave, domed. In the finishing elements of rococo, outside it is decorated with floral ornaments. Reliefs of Saints Cyril and Methodius adorn the doors of the cathedral.
The main shrine of the temple - the relics of John the Baptist and the miraculous icon of the Mother of God Roman. The relics of Saint stored in the cathedral in the 18th century, were almost lost during World War II. They disappeared, then mysteriously found in 2000 to the delight of the faithful.
Today, the cathedral is a monument to the great Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko. Here, far away, you can see the sculpture of the poet Bohdan modeling.
