Church of The Blessed Virgin Mary, Buchach

Temple, who has seen a lot in his life of human misery, today one of the main relics Buchach. It opened its doors in 1764.

In twenty years, the city was on fire. The fire did not escape the temple, leaving their mark on it. And in a few decades gilded dome damaged by lightning hit the church. Almost completely burned the temple during the First World War, when Russian troops staged in an all-consuming fire.

But the saddest page of history was waiting for him in the days of the Soviets. NKVD tortured and buried in the lower rooms of the temple, about 150 Ukrainians. For a long time the church was closed. Then the building was given to the warehouses. Only in 1989 during the excavation of buried land areas recovered the remains of victims of the NKVD.

Now reconstructed the temple belongs to the Greek-Catholic Church. Here again conducted the service.
