St. Nicholas Church in Buchach was constructed in the early 17th century on the site of an old wooden church. It was the first brick church in the city. The initiators of the construction of the temple were Mogilyanka Maria and her husband Stefan Potocki. To confirm this, the entrance to the Church of St. Nicholas hangs image of their family crest. This fact in official documents gave it the status of "city".

In addition to religious functions, the church served as a long period and still fortification. During the defense of Buchach from the Turks and Tatars windows of the temple were loopholes.

For many years it was in its original form. Turn in her life occurred with the advent of Buchach land as owner Nicholas Potocki. The temple has a new high carved iconostasis gilded baroque painted famous master iconographer B. Petranovichem.

In 1780 and 1855 years the church was severely flooded during the flood, because of this foundation was significantly flawed and sometimes demolished stone wall, so you had to repeatedly recover it all.

Originally built as an Orthodox church of St. Nicholas now belongs to the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church. Among the relics of the above except the iconostasis, there are 2   Icon of the Virgin of the 18th century, made on a wooden base using the technique of gilding and stamping, and other sacred objects of the 18-19th centuries.
