Nicholas Yacht Club

In the Southern Bug River downstream Varvarovsky bridge is the only one in the Black Sea Nicholas Yacht Club, which since its foundation has kept its name and purpose, and did not change the location.

The history of the yacht club

• The oldest yacht club in Nikolaev Ukraine was founded in 1888 on the initiative of the Black Sea Fleet Commander E. Golikova. August 22 charter club selection and place were approved by the Marine Ministry.
• In March 1903 143 members of the yacht club at the general meeting decided to build a new building. This was highlighted in a coastal area on the outskirts of Nikolayev - Savior, which at that time was the Palace of Prince G. Potemkin, which unfortunately has not survived to this day, and Turkish fountain in 1792.
• In 1904, construction of the building on May 17 yacht club designed by yachtsman and architect Leopold brood over. Immediately passed the grand opening of the new stone building Nikolaev Yacht Club. This house survived until now.
• In April 1904 the territory of the yacht club opened the first swimming school in Nikolaev. The trainers were retired naval officer Mr. Androsov, a women`s group - E. Zadorozhna. August 12, 1907 Nicholas Yacht Club is celebrating its twentieth anniversary. Jubilee celebrations ended with dancing and fireworks.
• In September 1914 the members of the yacht club was expelled 19 persons - subjects of Kaiser Wilhelm. April 8, 1916 the club organized by the Union of sports associations of the city. In wartime authorization rest of the club gave way to serious training in applied sports. Patriotic young people prepared to defend their country on battlefields of the First World War.
• In those pre-war years Nicholas Yacht Club was the place of citizens. The weekend in the yacht club celebrations were held: the kiosks selling beer, soda pop, ice cream, cakes, usually a brass band played. Vacationers were dressed in all white, pohodzhaly along the coast.
• In 1938, Nicholas sailing at cruising yacht "Arctic" passed 2,500 miles. In 1940, the yacht made a trip to the port of Batumi.
• On the waterfront in 2009 a monument to G. Potemkin.
• To date, the yacht club retained the best traditions of yachts. Sailing first. Also regularly regattas. One of these - "Ecological Regatta", which brought together the largest number of yachts in the Black Sea. Every year in spring indoors yacht cabins conduct fair.

Rest in Yacht Club

Today Nicholas Yacht Club is better known as an area for recreation, because there is no beach as such. Moreover, swim areas for smoking. Instead holidaymakers sunbathing on a pier.

Given the peculiarity of that in the Yacht Club are a lot of cafes, schools and each assigned a certain area, it is generally clean and tidy.

In the children`s club is complex with slides and a bar. Hours of fun:

Getting Nikolaev Yacht Club

Nicholas Yacht Club located on the street sport. In the area can be reached by bus number 43, 79, 52 or tram №1, and then have to walk about two hundred meters to the entrance, since passage of vehicles on the territory carried out only with a pass.
