Assumption Catholic Church, Yahilnytsia

Not far from Chertkov on both banks of the river lies the village Cherkaska Yahilnytsia . This is one of the ancient settlements skirts, which once owned Polish magnate Lyantskoronsky. They became the founders of the Roman Catholic parish and built the Assumption Church in Yahilnytsia.
The history of the church
The Catholic parish was established in 1478. The church was originally wooden. There has it all under the patronage of Sigmund Yahilnytskoho.
Under mysterious circumstances first church burned down in the early 19th century. With the assistance of Count Lyantskoronsky in 1842 built a new church of the Assumption in Baroque style. On the pediment of the church can be seen Lyantskoronsky emblem. But in 1898 a new stone church was burned again, but next year it could be repaired.
In Soviet times, the church originally located in the gym, and in 1974 the church premises converted a warehouse furniture store.
July 4, 1992 with the assistance of the Foundation Carolina Lyantskoronsky church was restored and transferred yahilnytskiy parish. After returning to the church faithful at the temple caring fathers Dominicans with Chertkov.
How to get there
Yahilnytsia is 10 kilometers south of Chertkov. With Ternopil bus to the village bus ride. The village Nahiryanka is Yahilnytsia railway station, where trains stopped with Zalischyky and Ternopil . In this village you can see Yahilnytskyy castle .
