Kaniv Hydroelectric Power Plant

With the creation of the Dnieper cascade hydropower stations in Ukraine solved the problem of providing electricity and water to the population and industrial facilities. Construction Kanev HPP gave impetus and became a catalyst for building a modern city with a developed infrastructure.

Kanev hydroelectric station is the second stage of the cascade of the Dnieper Hydroelectric Power Station. The first unit of Kanev HPP was put into operation in 1972. Last unit (twenty-fourth) earned in 1975.

The composition of the Kanev hydroelectric facilities include: powerhouse and spillway 24; shipping gateway, single chamber; earthen dams; defenses of the right bank and highways.

In recent years, veterans` organizations and Kanev district regularly refer to the executive committee of the Kanev City Council with the question of attribution Kanev HPP Taras Shevchenko.
