Arch Kalimbeta, Henichesk
In the center Genichesk is a local landmark, which is considered to be a symbol of the city - Arch Kalimbetov. The monument dates back to the history of 1909.
At the time, he lived in the town of a rich merchant of Greek origin Roman Kalimbetov. He owned several apartment houses in Genichesk. The strangeness of a merchant in the city is still legendary. They say he was dressed like a beggar, he was herding sheep, but the money in the banks carried sacks.
Arch, which kept the initials of family Kalimbetov leads to a former coaching inn with an old two-storey building. These buildings - all that`s left from the possession of a wealthy merchant. On the first floor restaurant, where visitors leisurely dined and drank tea while admiring the wonderful view of the Sea of Azov.
Not so long ago the arch Kalimbetov restored. Local residents say that after that she has changed a lot.
