Janusz oven, Mezhirich

Janusz oven -   it is the only structure that survived from the once famous for its wealth and impeccable taste palace of Prince Janusz Ostrog, who lived in Mezhyrich under Ostroh . To protect your family from the regular raids on the village, the prince built his house near Trinity Monastery , also serves as a defensive and protective fortress. Janusz liked with their loved ones to visit the monastery and in quiet times.

The palace was almost completely destroyed during the war and never rebuilt. In the early 18th century by the prince`s residence with the protection of only two fireplaces, one of which still exists today. It was built   in the form of a huge furnace chimney with large arched openings, built in the shape of a pyramid with a high roof and chimney, decorated in the style of the Renaissance. Fire it was bred in the center, most likely side passages in the winter of the year closed.

Historians say that the stove Janusz in the cold season basked palace guard. And during the great feasts   here could roast on a spit large animal carcasses. The remaining should also be seen that once stood in the middle of the oven a large vat in which boiled resin. In peacetime, this place adapts to forge.
