In 1843, Taras Shevchenko was in Aleksandrovsk (formerly referred to as the city of Zaporozhye) during his first trip to Ukraine. After a long absence with Ukraine for 29 years so it`s been a long-awaited trip. He stopped in the village Voznesenovka (now the territory of the city) and repeatedly crossed the Dnieper River by boat to visit the island. In his poetry Kobzar sang Cossack glory, so Khortytsya was his Ukrainian shrine. Literary critics have noted the lack of drawings and poetic lines devoted to Khortytsya. Most likely, that the poet was shocked by what he saw. Instead picturesque Ukraine before his eyes appeared "colonized region." At that time, the land Khortitsa were populated by Germans Mennonite religious sect, invited by the tsarist government. Folk legends say that Taras visited the northern side of the island on the path to Gromushinoy beams that and called Tarasova trail, in the beam Muzychinoy.

When the park was established based on the stele as an indication that in the future it will be a monument to the Great Kobzar.
