Church of St. Paraskeva, Krekhov

The history of the church

Being one of the oldest settlements on the territory of modern Lviv region, Krekhov with its surroundings experienced many interesting historical events.

According to legend, back in the 900 years of the first began to live here hermit monks who established themselves in the caves of the cell itself. Later, in the 12th century monastic receivers became several dozen, many of them came from other cities, some - from neighboring countries. Regarding the petition of one of the monks, the lord of the Galician land set aside more land for the construction of the fortress-monastery.

Today it is famous Krehivskyy fortress, which has been preserved in excellent condition and available for tourists. Forces of the monks was also built the Church of Paraskeva, but already in 1721.

The current state of the church

Today the church is recognized as a unique relic. Inside it preserved the original iconostasis - by Ivan Rutkovicha.
