Lviv Academic Theatre. Kurbasa

Lviv Academic (Youth) Theatre Les Kurbas was founded in 1988. In just 25 years of a talented team of the theater was able to fully win the hearts and minds of the audience.

Over 30 ready-made productions and dozens more in the development say that theater-goers are looking forward to Prime Minister, and artists feel power to surprise and delight art works again and again.

About the theater Kurbas

The theater was founded, Vladimir Kuchinsky, received in 1985, educated in Moscow at the rate of direction. The young team is formed quickly, actors and novice director share common views and aspirations. In 1988, the premiere of the first play on the works of Lina Kostenko. In the same year the theater and received his first award - a prize named after Vasyl Stus.

Since then, the number of awards has been growing steadily, theater regularly takes part in various festivals, the audience affirm their love every season constant sold out.

Among the most outstanding productions: "Between the two forces" 1990 "Dream" 1996 poetry Shevchenko, "King Lear" by Shakespeare in 2010, and more.

The architecture of the theater

The theater building named Kurbas deserves special attention. Its designed specifically for the variety theater in the early 20th century. Architects and Fedorsky Matsudzinsky managed to "inspire" in the cold stone theatrical soul. Gothic decoration of the roof, mounted a balcony above the entrance, decorative pilasters and arched windows - all borrowed from the Italian architecture of the late Middle Ages.

Adapted very cleverly, only the best and highly organic, to create an atmosphere of creative life of the artist. This decision produced a stunning effect. The theater has a great success and performances are collected hundreds of spectators every week.
