Monument Isaac Babel, Odessa

The unique monument of Isaac Babel was inaugurated in September 2011. The date of opening was timed to the Day of the city of Odessa . To create such a monument, it took several years of painstaking fundraising around the world and sincere initiative of the odessite Valeria Hunt. He was the acting vice-president of the renowned World Club of Odessa residents. One of the key goals of the club was the memory and honor of the natives of the city, especially those whose talent is not only far exceeded the boundaries of Odessa, and the Soviet Union.

Thus, after the fundraising was declared an independent competition for the best sculpture of the writer. From the statement of 24 works of architects from around the world, he won the Muscovite G. Frangulyan. According to the author of the project, the writer captured sitting in creative thinking and is next to the frozen wheel that every viewer will explain himself in his own way. I liked the idea of ​​not only the authors of the project, but the writer`s widow and his daughter, who lives in America. The opening was attended by the sculptor, the initiator of the monument close Babel and other cultural figures of Odessa.
