Odessa - the sea capital of Ukraine. Here it is one of the largest seaports . And, of course, in a city with a long maritime history is a museum of the Navy.

From the history of the Museum of the Navy

Odessa Navy Museum was opened in 1965. The main part of the exhibition is located in a historic building. The building was built in 1842 by the famous architect at that time. The house is made in the English style. Originally the house was situated the English club.

What can be seen in the museum

The museum building is located on a steep descent. For this reason, on the one hand the house floor, and on the other - two floors with a huge cap. Due to a recent fire the building was damaged. Some of the exhibits were transferred to the marine station building.

Inside the Museum a special atmosphere. It hovers around the spirit of adventure and romanticism. Among the exhibits you can see a model of vintage boats. All of them once surf the Black Sea. Some of the models are made very delicately. You`ll also find old documents and photos that are even better immersed in the marine atmosphere. The most striking exhibit is the 900-year-old anchor.

Visitors to the museum have the opportunity to know the marine life within. There is a captain`s cabin, forecastle and more. Special attention is paid to the history of whaling.

The tour of the museum will give you a lot of pleasant experiences. Here you can learn everything from the history of navigation and marine. And most importantly, it will be interesting, especially for children.
