Monument St. Innocent, Odessa
Monument St. Innocent holds a special place among the sculptures in Odessa . Of the many poets, actors, artists and artistic images monument to St. Innocent stands out for its combination of monumental Christian views and simple love people who are highly revered archbishop. He lived in the early 19th century, occupying since 1848 especially in the post of archbishop of the Diocese of Kherson and Tauride. According to archival data and literary memoirs of contemporaries, Archbishop (Ivan Borisov) from a young age was very smart, successful in science and philosophy, as well as a unique preacher. His work did not go unnoticed in the Sunday school and had multiplied over the course of life.
Erected a monument in 2013 on its opening was attended by all senior officials of the city and the Orthodox diocese. Beautiful sculpture is made in full growth, installed on two-meter pedestal. Nearby there is a monument to Ludvik Zamenhof who invented Esperanto.
