Monument Ludvik Zamenhof

Ludvik Zamenhof Monument - the most original of his bust in the entire history of Odessa . It was established in 1959 in a typical courtyard of Odessa Deribasovskaya Street. Relatively low pedestal with the bust represented in white artificial stone. Well recognizable face Ludwik Zamenhof for many years had passed for another person. The fact is that in Soviet times brilliant Polish scientist and his discoveries have been banned. He is the creator of Esperanto. Nevertheless, the main pursuers its achievements annually visited the monument in honor of the honor and respect to the author.

Zamenhof himself was never in Odessa, he lived in Poland and Israel. He worked hard to create a language for which he received great acclaim. In 1950, a Polish devotee made the order Odessits sculptor Blazhkov the creation of the monument. For unknown reasons, the customer was not able to pick up the sculpture, so the author left it in his backyard. In order to avoid the persecution of the authorities, he explained that he found the monument native father. In 2008 restoration works were carried out with a bust and plaque affixed with complete data. Now it is a place of pilgrimage for fans of Zamenhof and his achievements. Nearby there is a beautiful monument to the wife of a sailor .
