History Academy

Ukrainian National Kyiv-Mohyla Academy was founded in 1615. It is considered to be a follower of the old Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, which stood at the origins of Kyiv Brotherhood School. Sponsored institution famous Ukrainian Hetman Petro-Konashevich Sahaidachny army and Zaporozhye.

Soon, due to the merger of two schools formed the Kiev-brotherly board. From that moment it began its rapid development.

His contribution to the development of the institution made famous Kyiv Metropolitan Petro Mohyla. For a long time here it operated the Kiev Theological Academy, and in Soviet times the building was used as the Higher Naval Political School in Kiev.

One of the initiators of its revival became Vyacheslav Bryukhovetskaya, who was soon appointed to the role of the first President of the National University of "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy". The official status of the National Academy of the institution received in 1994.

Interesting Facts

National University of "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" has received the status of a long-awaited research Autonomous University, only since 2009.
It occupies the fifth place in Ukraine in the ranking of quality of education and skill levels of their graduates.
Graduates of the academy were such famous personalities as Ivan Mazeppa, Ivan Samoylovich Ivan Skoropadsky, Philip Orlik, Paul Polubotok.
The Academy also attended the famous scientist and Dr. Mikhail Lomonosov and popular Ukrainian writer and philosopher Skovoroda.
At one time, in 1918, it was transferred to the academy building of the Dnieper Flotilla.

National University of "Kyiv-Mohyla" Academy is the guardian of the twelve schools which reside throughout the territory of modern Ukraine.
Since 1991 until today the presidents of the institution were 3 people: Bryukhovetsky Vyacheslav, Kvit Sergei and Andrei Meleshevich.
Library of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy has ten sub-libraries.
One of the traditions of the institution of higher education is the action "a clean frying pan." On this day the students in unison wash monument dedicated to Grigory Skovoroda, which is located on Kontraktova Square. A monument to the head put on a special hat Bonet.
