The building of the railway administration, Lviv

The railway administration building in Lviv, located on the corner of Gogol and Lystopadovoho rank, in the central part of the city, close to the park named after Ivan Franko.

It is worth noting that the building of the railway administration is so majestic that is architectural dominant of the whole street, and its spire is visible from all corners of the city. For more than 100 years in this building is the headquarters of the railroad Galicia.

History of the building

The building of the railway administration appeared in the city in 1914. The author of this grand project was well-known Lviv architect Zbigniew Levinsky. Construction lasted only one year. For train control was selected popular at that time in Lviv modernized classicism architectural style. The building is topped by a tower, decorated clock above which rises a huge dome with a tall steeple. Today the dome control is painted in green.

An interesting fact is that the original employees of the railway is not only work but also live. To this end, the building has been allocated an entire wing. To ensure that such a huge structure of the heat management of the railway has been placed upon its own narrow-gauge railway on which daily transport coal for heating.

Today the building is completely given to the management of the Lviv railway.

Getting there

The railway administration building is located 1 km from the Market Square. You can get here both on the personal and public transport. From the main train station here you can take the tram number 6, stop - "Lesia Ukrainka Street." Also here there is a bus number 31 and 29, bus number 51.
