Oleg Antonov State Aviation Museum is the youngest and, at the same time, the largest historical museum of the country's technical history. It was established in 2003, and its opening crowned the major date – 100th anniversary of world aviation. Museum is located at the territory of the former Educational Air Base of KIIGA (now NAU), and aircrafts assigned to Base became the core of its collection.
However, started with only 30 machines, today SAM owns the exposition of more than 80 aircraft and helicopters.

Visiting the museum of aviation you can see some especially valuable exhibits. One of them is the Be-6 anti-tank and rescue flying boat. In total, three specimens have survived in the world: in China, in Russia and in very good condition - here.
Another rare example is the AN-71 long-range radar detection and control aircraft. In total, two copies were released. The aircraft can detect other aircraft at a distance of 350 kilometers and at an altitude of 30 kilometers.
The museum has unique exhibits that are not represented anywhere else. For example, here is a complete collection of Tu-22 strategic bombers, there is the first mass-produced IL-86, which in 1974 took part in the Paris air show in Le Bourget. On this plane test flights were carried out - he never carried passengers.
