House-castle on Chuprynky, Lviv

An unusual house on the street Chuprynky in Lviv immediately attracts the attention of tourists and travelers. It recalls its features lock liberators of Palestine, when in fact a simple apartment building in which they live ordinary city residents.

History home-castle

Historically, the house got a double for as constructed had two separate parts of the building. One of the houses was intended for lease, was implemented first in 1900. Second, resembling a medieval castle with the figure of a lion designed by architect Josef Sosnowski for themselves. With the project helped him famous Lviv architect Ivan Lewinski. Then, the home-castle was built in 1907.

Sosnowski some time lived in this house, but later sold it to collector Biesiadeckis Lviv.

House built in the style of pseudo Venetian elements. In architectural terms attracts large corner balcony, decorated with elements of Venetian palazzo. If you look closely, you can see the remains on cross vault mural painting.

There are a lot of good left. In a corner room of the building has been preserved to this day chapel terrace, which is nicely decorated staircase. Similar in solving forged metal balconies, located on the tower, decorative purpose, as to which there is no exit. Faded painted arcades, wrought iron beds featuring the marvelous emblem.

From the street General Chuprynky visible metal fence, behind which included a small garden. Before entering, you can see the guard - Lviv noble lion.

Recently, the house placed a sign that announces architectural monument. House of 211 assigned guard.

Getting there

Castle House is located in Lviv on the street General Chuprynky 50-52. In addition there are several stops of trams and buses. Near the city hospital №5 stop 2 tram routes and 41 bus and at Kiev street on the opposite side quarter - tram routes 9 and 11. The building is located at the intersection of John Street Levinsky.
