Church of the Ascension

In the central part of Romney is old Church of the Ascension. Once on the site was a wooden church built in 1700. 95 years old building was demolished and replaced by a new stone church was built. Its main adornment iconostasis was made by the architect Ivan Babitsky.

 

Ascension church perfectly preserved to the present day. Today, tourists can visit this ancient temple. The church is a round shape structure. The eastern and western main gallery adjacent to the altar and the porch. Low round dome crowned closed vault of the church.

 

On the south side of the central temple is a stone tower. You can also visit the small Trehsvyatitelsky church, which is located on the ground floor of the bell tower. Her second tier high enough, has eight sides and is made in neobarokkovom style.

 

All buildings constructed complex of Ascension Romenskogo brick and wood flooring made from local wood, has not lost its appeal for centuries. Brick fence surrounds the church, decorated with metal railings and wrought-iron gates.
