Chinadievskaya fortress

Among the picturesque Carpathian nature is a small settlement Chinadievo which is famous far beyond the borders of Ukraine for its ancient castles. The first mention of this historic site date back to the 13th century. One of the main attractions is the local Chinadievskaya fortress, which through the centuries has carried harsh spirit of the Middle Ages. It was built in the 14th century and consisted of two mighty towers, with walls more than a meter thick. Chinadievskaya fortress for many years served as a reliable protection to the local population from enemy attacks.
In 1657, Polish soldiers led by Prince Lubomir almost completely destroyed Chinadievskuyu fortress. However, half a century later it was again rebuilt and was the residence of the famous Hungarian Prince Ferenc Rákóczi II. Over the years, the fortress changed his destiny, of a formidable defensive structure has evolved into a beautiful castle. Around the fortress was defeated magnificent park. During its long history the fortress survived Chinadievskaya not one reconstruction, the biggest change occurred in 1734 and 1839. During the last adjustment near the fortress walls, workers found immured skeleton, its origin is still not established. Today the fortress is one of the most visited monuments in Transcarpathia and is open daily for all visitors.
Chinadievskaya fortress attracts many tourists from around the world. By visiting this site, you will see not only extant remains of once majestic citadel, but also listen to interesting stories and legends associated with its history. Chinadievo village is 56 kilometers from the city of Uzhgorod and 60 kilometers from Mukachevo. To reach by car to Chinadievo have to travel on the highway M-06-Svaljava Mukachevo.
