St Mykhailo Cathedral
The Church of St. Michael in Lviv has another name - the Church of the Barefoot Carmelites. It`s monuments and architectural value of the city. Still not set the exact date of construction of the church in Lviv, but the first mention was in 1634.
The Church of St. Michael is located on a hill and built of stone. Strong walls and a convenient location allowed him to perform a defensive function. Before our time building mutate because not once damaged and erected again. Historians believe that the church was originally built as a fortress.
In the mid-20th century in the garden of the monastery was going to informal youth of Lviv and the entire Soviet Union, there was music informal groups.
The Church of St. Michael is incredibly beautiful and the outside and inside. Interior space is designed in Baroque style. A unique painting of the 18th century decorates the vaults of the central nave. The walls are decorated with pictures of historical events of the Carmelite Order.
The name of the Church of the Barefoot Carmelites succeeded in 1991, when it was given to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. Then there was the Temple of Archangel Michael.
