In the heart of historic Lviv, surrounded by the Adam Mickiewicz Square and the Cathedral, is Galician area. Today it is one of the favorite places of the townspeople and tourists. Comfortable benches and trees, surrounding area, create a unique atmosphere.

It is noteworthy that the Galician area - one of the youngest in the old Lviv. Upsetting the 13th century, it became the center of life constantly ancient city.

Interestingly, the area owes its name to the salt route. White gold were brought to the city from Galic, the path which starts from the modern Galician area.

Naturally, each century has left its mark on the architecture of the neighborhood. From 17th to 19th century, the area was surrounded by defensive walls, as well as horse tracks and electric trams, which had to be removed in 1892. Place rail occupied the central market. Mini park in the square is alive today. Now it surrounds the monument Danilo Galitsky and many cafes located nearby.

With reverence the townspeople are the fountain to the right of the monument Galician prince. This place is namolennye. Many centuries ago on the site of the fountain was a wooden church of the Holy Cross. Despite the huge number of fires and sieges, this small church is always restored until the 18th century.
