Long Communicating Courtyard

Long Communicating Courtyard

Long thoroughfare in Lviv - great attraction of the legendary city. The rich history of Lviv has its roots in the distant Middle Ages, when the narrow streets of modern households served looping ways to combine two major shopping centers.

Long thoroughfare connects the main town square with a small market street named after I. Fedorov. The famous book printers lived here in the middle of the 16th century, thanks to him in the territory of modern Ukraine had the first exactly dated printed book. Market Square - one of the oldest areas of Lviv, which is the largest trading point for foreign and local merchants.

Combining these two attractions   thoroughfare is a narrow street that is closed on both sides by high walls of houses. Walking through it, you can see interesting sights - deepening in the stone walls left over from ancient leather scrolls. These scrolls were considered sacred, they were written the words of the Torah. Such evidence supports the accommodation of large Jewish communities here in the Middle Ages.

Near the thoroughfare is Stryiskyi Park and Lady of the Snows Church - an architectural monument of the 16th century.
