St. Nicholas Church

St. Nicholas Church is one of the greatest historical monuments located in the White Church .

The first St. Nicholas Church was built in the mid 17th century, near the main shopping area. It was a unique structure of its size and architecture. After some time, the temple was destroyed due to dilapidation construction in 1709 was built a new stone with large northern and southern parts. In connection with the Polish War and the advent of Catholicism was consecrated only the southern part. In 1799 there was a huge fire that destroyed the interior and a significant part of the facade. In 1850, in the church ceased to conduct worship, the main temple becomes Cathedral of the Transfiguration .

By the early 20th century, the temple is almost completely destroyed and its inner riches (The Gospel in gold, precious icons and more) have been lost. St. Nicholas Church was restored in the 1960s, was restored only the southern part of the temple, so the construction of the building looks asymmetrical.
