Cathedral of Sts (Museum of Architecture)
Boris and Gleb Cathedral is one of the oldest cathedrals in Ukraine. It was built in the period 1120-1123 gg. The founder is considered to Prince David Svyatoslavovych. Initially, the temple was intended as a tomb for the kind Davidovich. In the walls you can see the deep niches that testifies to this. His name is associated with the canonization of Boris and Gleb.
The history of the Cathedral of Sts
Research scientists found out that the church is on the remains of old buildings, rather than the church itself. But what could be the building of accurate information. Boris and Gleb Cathedral survived a lot of destruction and rebuilding. During his recovery he became a radically different and changed its original style. In the 17th century it was given the form of the Dominican church, and still later rebuilt in Baroque style. It was only from 1952 to 1958 it was decided to re-create the original plan of the prince, the remaining sketches in historical documents. Once the walls of the cathedral decorated with beautiful frescoes, but unfortunately, they almost did not survive.
Today in the church of Sts opened an architectural museum, which always run two exhibitions. The cathedral itself refers to the reserve "Ancient Chernihiv". In addition, there are often concerts of sacred music.
The museum architecture can see various exhibits that show the life and experiences of Chernigov in different years. One of the main exhibits are SILVER gilded gates. They weigh about 56 kg. They are created by decree of Hetman Ivan Mazepa. Up to now they have been preserved in perfect condition. On the territory of the Cathedral of Sts once buried known hierarchs of the Orthodox Church.

Architecture Museum in the Cathedral of Sts open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00. To get to the museum you can from the railway station by public transport or by car via the Avenue of Victory.
