Historical and Memorial Museum of Political Prisoners, Ternopil

In the history of Ukraine was a lot of heavy pages, one of them clearly demonstrates the unique Ternopil Museum of Political Prisoners. It opened in 1996 on the initiative of the Union of Political Prisoners and organization "Memorial".

The building is long gone Soviet secret police dungeons, and not languish in the vaults of the patriots of Ukraine, who spoke against totalitarianism, but the eerie atmosphere of the place of human suffering remains. From 1944 to 1986 there were remand prison and the NKVD-KGB. 17 cameras for political prisoners were in the basement. Questioned convicted on the upper floors, using the instruments of torture.

Visitors can see and cameras, and punishment cells, and instruments of torture, and items of prison life - all this is now played. There is a map of the USSR marked the place where the Gulag camps for political prisoners in Siberia. Also presented mock-ups of the concentration camps and the so-called car-calf house with bars. In these cars, a little different from the trucks, transporting prisoners.
