St. Anne (Assumption)

In Ukraine, only two survived wooden two-towered temple, and one of them - a Catholic - in Volhynia. Now the church with three centuries of history is in Kovel, where he was brought from the village of Cherry. Restoring the temple, restorers were especially careful.

Outside the church dvuhkupolny lined with planks and covered with shingles. Its main attraction is the baroque altar of the late 18th century. By the way, in the foundation of the current church, laid stone, specially delivered to Ukraine from Jerusalem.

St. Anne`s parish itself was founded in the 16th century under the auspices of Queen Bona. Throughout its history the church has repeatedly suffered from the fire. Thus, the first wooden building was located near the Church of the Annunciation. In times of Bohdan Khmelnytsky this temple was destroyed, but soon rebuilt again. But the church again engulfed fire - it happened in the late 19th century. Parishioners have helped in the restoration of the church.

The new wooden church was able to survive during the First and Second World Wars. But in 1945 the Soviet authorities ordered dismantled wooden structure. Place the temple was empty until 1996, yet there is not a new church.
