Armenian Church, Belgorod-Dnistrovsky
A small village in the Odessa area only 2 streets fit residues Aleksandrov Barracks , Greek church , a monument to the heroes of the Russian-Japanese War and Sarmatian burial. But a special place in this list is Armenian Church - the first bastion of the Christian faith, was built in the Odessa region.
Originally the temple had the name "Greek". According to legend, the church was built 2 Greeks living in Odesa in the 14th century. For a long time the construction is an ordinary monastery.
Only in the 16th century, the church was given to the custody of the Armenian community. This resulted in the subsequent reconstruction of the building. Proceedings of the Armenian parishioners can estimate today. The vaults of the temple is still decorated with hand-painted 16th century and antique marble slabs. The symbol of Armenia in the province is a real rarity.
Since 1940, the building of the Armenian Church is not a religious sense. It`s just a database of archaeological expedition. Fortunately, the building is almost always open to the public, as is the shrine for the local Armenian diaspora.
