Mariinsko-Alexander Gymnasium in Kherson has another name - Second-Mariinsko Alexander Gymnasium. In the 19th century it was a female secondary school in Kherson.
History of school
The building in the eclectic style of the Romantic movement was built in the late 19th century (1896). Also, the training center were the church of St. Alexander (1902), and the park board.
With the support of Governor TF Pankrat`eva, director of the Kherson province Kolenko schools in 1858 raised the question of idkryttya a girls` school. However, limited permission to open the left female Sunday school, and was appointed head of the wife of the director of schools Kolenko.
In 1862, with the Sunday school had a female parish school with regular teaching staff. A year later the school became a four-year high school. Thanks to public support, the school has become quite successful and secured.
Mariinsko high school was named the Alexander Gymnasium, in 1867 - in honor of the marriage of the heir to the Russian throne Alexander Alexandrovich Princess Marya.
The first director was progymnasium AJ Maximov. The fourth class in preschools opened in 1872. And after two years in school started teaching a course on training teachers in primary schools.
