Lutheran Church, Zhitomir

Lutherans from Germany settled in the area more than 200 years ago. In the mid-19th century the territory of what is now the church, belonged to a certain Germans from   Zhitomir . When he died, part of his land was handed over to the Lutheran community, so that they built a church and a priest house. In 1896, at this point there was a   Lutheran Church in the contemporary Gothic style. And this street dubbed Lutheran. With Zhitomir associated name unrivaled pianist Sviatoslav Richter. His grandfather came to Zhytomyr region back in the mid-19th century, when many Germans actively migrated to this region, trying to find a job. Ancestor of the great pianist played in the church organ.
