Old Jewish Cemetery, Kobelyaki

Poltava town Kobeliaky known throughout Ukraine, because here was born the famous manual therapist Nikolai Kasyan A. and founded the group «The VYO." If visiting in Kobeliaky, it`s best to visit the old Jewish cemetery.

History cemetery

Kobeliaky known since 1620. The city held great trade routes to the LOTS , Kremenchug and Poltava . It is likely that there existed a large Jewish community, because Kobelyaki synagogue and Jewish school prayer.

It is not known when it was founded a Jewish cemetery. There are tombstones as the late 19th century and the Soviet period. Some great extant.

Old Jewish Cemetery in Kobelyaki was destroyed at the end of the Soviet Union. Right on its territory built a factory, and a scattered gravestones. So what makes the cemetery look depressing.

How to get there

After passing Kobeliaky European route E584. Distance to the regional center - 69 km. Over 13 kilometers from the city located railway station . Here stop trains traveling to Lviv , Kharkiv , Odessa , Poltava, Kremenchug, Novooleksiyivka .

Old Jewish cemetery is located on the southern outskirts of the city outside interkolkhoz.
