City Mogilev-Podolsky is named after its founder, Jeremiah Graves, he came from Moldavia.
History of the base of the monument Jeremiah Tomb
In 1495 on the site of the modern city of Grave IV began the construction of the castle. After some time, the construction went as a dowry for the daughter of the king, and went to Count Stefan Potocki. Polish nobleman was able to turn the castle into a real city, whose name is given on behalf of the father of his wife - Mogilev.
After the lapse of half a century, in 1995, the grateful residents remembered the founder and erected a monument to him. Location is selected so as to establish a monument as close as possible to the place where in former times stood the castle.
Since 2011, a monument surrounded by a park, which bloom in the flowerbeds and children play on special grounds.

A bit on the side is the oldest in Ukraine monument to the great writer Nikolai Gogol.
