Square Shevchenko Sumy

The history of the park

Sumy Shevchenko Square was built in the second half of the 19th century. For the first general plan of the city in the territory of the park was sited administrative and business center, but the idea was not realized, so the place was left vacant.

You often see elderly people playing chess, young people who just walks, and children who are fed residents park - pigeons.

In the center of the square stands the monument to Taras Shevchenko , who established here in the late 50s of the 20th century, and a monument to the students who participated in the revolution on the grass 2004.

Near the park is the first building of the former girls` school (now - the building of the Academy of Banking ) fountain "Sadko" and the Palace of Children and Youth . Around many cafes.

How to get there

Square Shevchenko in Sumy is located on Cathedral, almost opposite the Protection area. Nearby is a public transport "Intercession area."
