St. Basil`s Cathedral, Ishmael

History of the Pokrovsky Cathedral in Izmail

In the 18th century, Ishmael was one of the most impregnable fortresses Turkish. After taking the first town Orthodox inhabitants erected a wooden church and sent a request for building the temple of stone.
