St’s Peter and Paul Church

Peter and Paul church is known today as the oldest Catholic church Volyn region. Date of its construction is unknown. It is considered that the monastery was built in 1450. There is also a version that in 1450 this place was built a wooden church, and the present temple came a hundred years later. The only thing the scientists` opinions coincide, so it is that the first of the ancient cemetery was a wooden church.

Stone church in the Renaissance style was built Lithuanian Hetman Petro Montigerodovichem, popularly known as Peter "White".

For a long time the church was used as a chapel. His fate is closely linked with a famous Lithuanian native Radziwill family - descendants of the founder of the temple. In 1560, the great-grandson of Peter the "White" - Prince Nicholas Radziwill Black, becoming a Calvinist, Catholic church transformed into a Protestant church. After the death of Nicholas inherited joined his son Stanislav abode and returned to Roman Catholics.

In 1612 it was reconstructed. The main facade of the temple took shape early Baroque. Stone, transept and nave with cross vaults - such appearance lived up to our days. Complement structure typical of churches arched windows.

Interior is typical of that time without pomp. On the east side of the altar is preserved original tempera painting, and in one of the walls of the transept walled tombstone of white stone with the arms, dated 1607 year.

Near the temple buried wife Stanislaw Radziwill.

Today Peter and Paul church is a permanent Roman Catholic church and accommodates only 30 people, as well as 500 years ago.
