Podgoretsky Monastery

The village Pidgirci 66 km from Lviv , in a dense forest hid men Basilian Monastery of the Annunciation. Now he belongs to the Greek Catholic Church, the Order of St. Basil the Great. A ne rvaya abode, as evidenced by the historical data, appeared here in 1180.
Has survived the building of the monastery, built in the 18th century. Podgoretsky monastery complex - is the church and bell tower cells. It contains the "Chronicle Podgoretsky monastery", representing great value for historians, because it was conducted from 1662 to 1669. Interest is the ancient sundial on the facade of the building.
Since Soviet times, the monastery was a branch of the TB hospital. The relic was returned to believers in 1991.
Next to the monastery is a chronicle of the city Plisnesk settlement, which was founded in the early 7th century and destroyed by the Tatars. And, of course, being in Podgortsi worth a visit the famous castle Podgoretsky who "played" the role of the Louvre - is filmed scenes of the movie "The Three Musketeers." Podgoretsky castle with castle Olesko and Zolochiv castle in the vicinity of Lviv are included in the tour route - the "Golden Horseshoe of Lviv."
