Azov-Sivash National Park

One of the attractions of the Kherson region, rich in beautiful natural areas, a spit Biruchiy island . In 1993 there was established a national park. The development of these lands began in the late 19th century, and more in-depth study - in the early 20th.

The history of natural areas began in 1923 when the island was part of Biruchiy Reserve "Askania Nova" . A little later formed part of the land in the reserve "Nadmorskie spit." Soon, it was divided into two natural areas of land one of which served as the creation of the Azov-Sivash Park.

Today the park is a natural area untouched by human hand. The mild climate and saline soils here were the predominance of steppe and saline plant species, among which there are rare, endangered: sage, mealybug Sivash, yarrow.

In addition to the 12 species of plants that grow here in the Red Book of Ukraine entered and unique species of birds found in the park: a crane and gray steppe eagle, golden eagle, falcon, kestrel. There were more than 5,000 representatives of the animal world. By acclimation the National Park occupy the fauna that live in other climatic zones.
